Vin Do
Born and raised in Vietnam, Vin Do came to the United States at the age of 16. Before finishing high school, Vin left home in upstate New York and traveled to California to join the Congregation of St. John the Baptist, a Chinese missionary order. After two years of postulancy, Vin was sent to Taiwan to learn Mandarin and to enter the novitiate. When his visa expired less than a year later, Vin returned to the United States and ended up in New York City, where he studied at Queens College and worked at Our Lady of China Chapel. In 2001, Vin was sent to Mount Angel Seminary in Oregon to finish his undergraduate studies. In 2002, the Congregation sent Vin to Rome for theological studies, but he didn't stay there long. In the fall of 2003, the Congregation sent Vin to Holy Apostles Seminary in Connecticut. Vin graduated from there in May 2005. That summer, Vin left the Congregation and joined the Diocese of Brooklyn in New York City. The Diocese sent Vin to the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington. Vin was ordained a deacon there on December 8, 2006 and a priest at the Cathedral Basilica of St. James in Brooklyn on June 2, 2007. Vin Do has been a parochial vicar at St. Rosalia-Regina Pacis parish in Brooklyn ever since.
